The Zoological Garden in Spišská Nová Ves covers an area of 8 ha in the southeastern part of the town. It is the youngest large zoo compared to other zoos in Slovakia in Košice, Bratislava and Bojnice. It was founded in 1989.
ZOO includes a small creek, which beautifully completes the scenery of the garden area. Many woods provide a pleasant shade for both animals and visitors. The lake, a distinctive element in the composition of the garden, creates the conditions for the natural development of duck communities as well as other wild species, protecting and maintaining their habitat.
