Description
The side ridge of the Great Fatra is complemented with the Zvolen hill, which is best visible from the village of Donovaly. Zvolen hill is a landmark and also a popular tourist destination in this area. Zvolen offers excellent tourism in every season and also perfect skiing during the winter season.
The ascent route to the top is not difficult and can be managed in about an hour. There are beautiful views from the Zvolen hill, especially to the east towards the main ridge of the Low Tatras and Salatín. Dominant hills such as Ostredok, Ploská, Krížna or Čierny Kameň will also show their unmistakable charm. The High Tatras can also be admired for really good visibility.
In addition to hiking, the Zvolen hill is often sought after by lovers of adrenaline sports, especially paragliding. In winter, it comes back to life thanks to winter sports enthusiasts. In any case, if you are looking for peace, quiet, relax and beautiful nature, the Zvolen hill and the adjacent Nová Hoľa are perfect for that.
The shortest and easiest route to the top of Zvolen Hill leads from the village of Donovaly (about 2km). But you can get here on marked routes also from Veľký Šturec or Liptovské Revúce.
