The Aponnyi Library of Oponice is a divine paradise for all bookworms as well as history lovers. The library is the most beautiful interior library in Slovakia, which holds not only a book treasure, but also a strong story and pulsating energy.
The library was founded by Count Anton Juraj Aponnyi in 1774 in Vienna. The library originally had about 30,000 volumes. It currently contains 8,222 titles written in 12 languages, including rare works by authors such as Macchiavelli, Petrarca, G. Bruno, Galilei, Da Vinci, Schiller, Dumas, Balzac, Newton and Linnaeus.
The historical library of the Aponius family is administered by the Slovak National Library. The library is open to the public. However, it is only possible to consult and study historical books with the consent of the Slovak National Library.
