A pleasant location for a family trip is definitely Teplické serpentines. It is a set of lakes and creeks on the slope of Teplica Hill above Turčianská Štiavnička flowing along the mountain path in serpentines. Walking in this site is a real balm for the soul.
Teplické serpentines were built by the Révaj family in 1870, whose mansion, mausoleum and par /arboretum are located in the village of Turčianska Štiavnička. The serpentines are surrounded by a dense forest that separates them from the road. Teplické serpentines represent a sophisticated historical system of water supply to the village.
The constant flow of clear water created amazing travertine formations. You can admire travertine mounds, cascades or terraces, which together with water springs create tiny waterfalls. The walkway between the serpentines leads to the Teplica hill, from where there is a beautiful view of the ridge of Little Fatra.
In 2008, this relatively little visited site was ranked among the so-called 'Seven Wonders of Turiec Region'. The Teplice serpentines can be reached from the mineral spring at the southern end of Turčianská Štiavnička. The footpath is unmarked but visibly trodden.
