There is a paradise for wine lovers in the premises of historical 500 - year - old cellars under the Town Hall of Prešov. Original underground spaces became the seat of the Wine Museum, which covers an area of 500 m2 on two floors.
The museum has a rich collection of more than 2000 types of wines from all regions of Slovakia and Moravia as well as from all over the world. These are mainly bottled wines, which are part of the permanent exhibition. The attractiveness of this exposition is also enhanced by three-dimensional exhibits from wine production technology as well as vine growing. In addition, there is an eye-catching photo gallery of the well-known vine varieties used for wine production.
Separate part of the exposition consists of the so-called Tokaj region, which approximates technology of Tokaj wine. During the tour visitors are accompanied by a qualified worker. Most of the wines on display are also for sale or tasting.Wines can be purchased at the store, where they also offer gift packs of wine in the form of cartons, wooden cassettes, handmade paper bags, as well as wooden and metal stands of various shapes and sizes.
Perhaps the most beautiful and largest room in the museum is a tasting hall with oak tables, benches and an indescribable atmosphere. The tasting room offers space for organizing various events, large receptions, wine glasses or banquets. The museum is also famous for its large international wine tour MUVINA, which it organizes every year.
