Description
A perfect example of the natural wealth of Liptov is the cave system created at the top of Mních Hill. There are remarkable rocks with lots of crevices, cracks and even a cave. Liskovská Cave near the village of Lisková has been known since time immemorial.
Located at an altitude of 500 meters, its entrance is situated in a rock portal. It consists of middle triassic limestones and dolomites. The total length of the cave space currently reaches a respectable 4.2 km, but only a short cave at the surface is open to the public.
Liskovská Cave is an important archaeological site. In one of the side corridors near the Janosik Hall, a unique cult object with human remains was discovered. There were also many copper jewelry, statuettes and ceramics.
Liskovská Cave is easily accessible from the village, where it is located approximately 500m. We definitely recommend to combine its visit with the sightseeing of another natural rarity - Rocky Fist, which is located nearby.
