The picturesque village of Horná Poruba in the district of Ilava is really rich in terms of natural wealth and tourism. Few people, however, visit these areas and so the hill of Vlčinec is rather a local tourist destination. Not very high peak, however, has a lot to offer to experienced tourists who have already wandered a lot.
First of all, it is unmistakable, peaceful and truly beautiful nature and cute houses scattered in her arms. Climbing to Vlčinec is not difficult, so you can enjoy it equally well in summer and winter season.
At the top, there is a stone lookout from which you will get beautiful views of the nearby Sokol, nearby Veápeč, but also more distant Strážov, Homôľka, Hoľazne and Košice Castle Hill. There is also a fireplace, so it is possible to spread out, refresh and enjoy the surrounding beauty.
Vlčinec hill is accessible from two sides, either from Horná Poruba along the blue trail (about 3km) through the settlement of Smrčkovci up to the turn to the summit, or from Iliavka along the blue mark (about 1.5km) up to the turn to the summit as well. We certainly recommend to combine the hike to Vlčinec with the ascent to the surrounding landmarks such as the Sokol Hill and Vápeč.
