One of the interesting and attractive lookout towers in the Trenčín region, and at the same time the highest situated lookout tower of Javorníky Mountain Range, is the one on Stratenec Hill.
Stratenec Hill is located near the Slovak-Czech border, between villages of Papradno and Makov. The wooden lookout tower, which stands on its top, thus offers a perfect view of both the Slovak and Moravian sides.
The lookout tower was open to the public in 2008. The tower itself is 8 meters high and the observation platform is at a height of 5 meters.
From the lookout tower, you can enjoy beautiful views of the peaks of Hostýn-Vsetín Highlands and Moravian-Silesian Beskydy on the Moravian side and Javorníky, Strážovské Mountains, Súľovské Rocks and Little Fatra on the Slovak side.
At the lookout tower, there is a shelter with a table and benches where you can relax. An information board and a map are installed around the lookout tower. Near the tower, there is the memorial called "Three Crosses", which is dedicated to the memory of three fallen soldiers.
The lookout tower is accessible within the ridge route through Javorníky. You can reach it from various directions, for example, from the recreational centre Kohútka –Portáš, from the ski-centre Kasárne , from the settlementPapradno-Podjavorník or from villages Veľké and Malé Karlovice.
