Partizánska Cave (Cave of partisans) is an interesting cave situated in the Strážovské mountains, specifically in the rocky cliff of Veľký Manín. Apparently by name, it will be clear to everyone whom this cave once served. It is a place where partisans were hiding during the Slovak National Uprising.
Partizánska Cave is a freely accessible cave with no entrance fee and you can visit it at any time. The cave was created by the action of water and other agents in the Mesozoic limestones of the Lower Cretaceous.
Partizánska Cave is also interesting from the perspective of its composition. The entrance is arched and leads to a kind of spacious tunnel-like descending corridor in massive gray limestones with corneas and ends in an expanded space. The cave is about 20 meters long and has no karst decoration.
Access to the cave leads along the marked trail from the villages Záskalie (about 2.5 km) and Považská Teplá (about 5km). The terrain is steeper and may be slippery during rainy and cold weather. Visiting the cave should be combined with the ascent to Veľký Manín, by completing the Educational Trail Manínska gorge, or with a visit to Manínska Gorge and Kostolecká Gorge.
