One of the highest peaks of the flysh mountains of Spišská Magura is the Veterný vrch (ie Windy or Breezy Peak). Among the tourists, it is known very well and its greatest attraction is certainly the most beautiful view not only in this area, but also in the surrounding area. In addition, it offers excellent tourism, which you can enjoy in any season of the year.
The top of this hill is a felled area. It is interesting that locals placed a wooden bench here. Perhaps that would be nothing strange if this bench were not made up of a beautiful carved, wooden statue of a bear, which holds a pole with a Slovak flag in its paws. As the wind is constantly blowing at the top, the flag can flutter beautifully in the wind day and night.
In addition, you will be captivated by the magnificent views, which you cannot find in the wide area, but to enjoy them, the weather must be good. Perhaps the most spectacular is the view of our mountains, the High Tatras, whose snow-capped peaks are almost within reach. However, you can also admire other mountains as Pieniny, Spišská Magura, Levočské Hills, Ľubovňa Highlands as well as several Polish mountains. The wind rose will also help you in your orientation.
If you would like to learn more about Veterný vrch and the surrounding area, make sure to open the summit book. Inside, you can find information about Spišská Magura, Veterný vrch, as well as orthophotomap for comparison of the surroundings now and in the past, and also hiking and cycling maps.
