If you would like to find yourself at the easternmost point of Slovakia, head straight to Kremenec Hill. It is a remarkable and popular peak in the Bukovské Mountains. It is located in one of the most important Carpathian primeval forests - Stužica, which is listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The climb itself is very pleasant, the walkway passes through the beautiful area of the Stužica National Nature Reserve. The reservation protects a complex of natural beech and fir-beech stands of primeval character with forest structure at all stages of its development.
On the top of Kremenca, there is a massive stone border post, which marks the place where Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine meet. Kremenec is one of the more frequented peaks, as evidenced by its quite abundant attendance not only from the Slovak but also from the Polish side.
The starting point for trips to Kremenec is mostly the village of Nová Sedlica (approx. 7.5 km away). From there, however, several hiking trails lead you always through some different location. The most challenging, but surprisingly even quite popular, is the passage through the ridge starting at Dukla, entering through the Lupkov Ghaut and ending at Kremenec Hill.
