Description
One of the beautiful places you should visit in Liptov is the St. John's Lookout Tower (originally called "Svätojánska"). It is located on a hill above the village of Liptovský Ján. According to the locals, it stands ona historic place where the nobility used to organize their "barbecues".
The tower has a wooden structure and is built in the style of traditional Slovak folk architecture. The tower is 10 meters high and has two observation platforms. From the top, you will get a beautiful view of the wide surroundings full of natural beauty, but also scattered small houses of the surrounding villages and the town of Liptovský Mikuláš.
At the lookout tower, you can sit and relax on wooden benches or just watch the nature and life in the village of Liptovský Ján, which will lie open below you.
You can reach it directly from the village from the "Pod Stráňou" Street or from the area of thermal spring of Teplica (via the small bridge accross the Štiavnica brook). A short well-arranged path from the road near the cemetery leads to the lookout tower.
