For all lovers and enthusiasts of the history of the First and Second World War, we recommend visiting Dúbravka. In the local forest, you can find several caverns (bunkers from the First World War). Most of them are backfilled, but initiators from the civic association Bunkers managed to make three of them available to the public.
Caverns in Dúbravka were built as part of the fortifications of Bratislava. Their main line began on the Long Works, then the objects continued across the Fox Valley, Iron Well and Kamzík Hill to the Ahoj Hill. Caverns in Dúbravka were never used militarily, despite the fact that their army was built as a shelter of heavy type.
Cavern in Dúbravka 2 is currently restored and accessible for visitors in its total length. It offers an unforgettable tour and commentary on the history of Bratislava caverns, including a description and demonstration of the most interesting parts. Members of the civic association Bunkers accompany the visitors during the tour. The caverns are without electric lighting, you need to have a flashlight for a tour.
It is necessary to make an appointment in advance by telephone.
