



Sandberg is a sandstone hill located in Devinska Nova Ves. For the inhabitants of the city of Bratislava, it is an excellent holiday and excursion place that offers a piece of unique nature close to the city.
Sandberg Hill is part of the Devínska Kobyla National Nature Reserve. From a paleontological point of view it is a very rare and extremely important locality. The most important findings include shark teeth, gastropods, sea urchins, bivalve molluscs, seal bones, and bones of whales of Tertiary era.
Remnants of tiny shells can be seen on the walls of this sandstone hill today. In addition, the hill is also rich in sandstone flowering. Sandberg is one of the most important localities of small Slovak orchids.
From the summit, there is a beautiful and fairly wide view of Devin Castle, Hainburg Hills, the Morava River and behind it the Moravian Field, Schlosshof Castle, the Little Carpathians and the ruins of Pajštún Castle.
Trippers will feel like on a real sandy beach when being here during the summer. Only the sea is missing, but the place is in a beautiful and unique natural setting.
Marked hiking trails from Devínská Nová Ves and from Devín lead to the Sandberg hill. The easiest access is via blue tourist route from Devínská Nová Ves. You can connect to it at, for example, at the Uhrovecká public transport stop and after visiting Sandberg you can continue to Devín, from where you also take public transport to Bratislava. It is an undemanding short hike, but with enchanting views of the surrounding countryside.
