Great Fatra is rich in various rock cracks, smaller and larger caves. Probably the most famous in this area is the Mažarná Cave, which is probably known to every tourist who has ever climbed the Tlstá Hill.
The Mažarná Cave is located approximately in the first third of the ascent to the above mentioned hill and is certainly an interesting and pleasant stop. This crack-cave is 130 meters long and it is filled with beautiful weathered stalactic decoration, the bottom of which is formed by sinite lakes, impenetrable crevices and cracks.
The cave is freely accessible throughout the year, but in its full beauty you can admire it especially during winter, when it also becomes the home of bats. The cave leads about 4 km long marked trail from the village Blatnica - first along the asphalt, later forest road. You can combine the trip with a visit to the nearby ruins of Blatnica Castle.
