Description

The massive whitish rocky cliffs of the Tlstá Hill in the Greater Fatra Mountain Range attract alluringly visitors from afar. It is no wonder that this hill, together with the Ostrá Hill, is one of the most visited and popular tourist destinations. However, it is necessary to count on a relatively long and strenuous ascent, after all, you ascend to a large and well rocky peak.

From the landscape point of view, the climb to Tlstá is very varied and interesting. The slopes are steep and gradually pass from the grassland to the high towering rock terraces and massive gates. They created great conditions for the formation of several caves. Tlstá Hill can boast of one of the largest caves of Greater Fatra - Mažarná. The cave is not open to the public. However, you can enjoy at least its magnificent entrance portal.

The peak of Tlstá is formed by an extensive rocky meadow, from which there is a beautiful view of the whole Turiec. From Tlstá it is possible to continue on the green marked trail through Ľubenná 1414 m asl, Bágľov hill 1280 m asl, all the way to Zadná Ostrá Hill.

The starting point for getting to Tlstá is usually the village of Blatnica (about 4 km). Consequently, your steps should lead towards Gaderská and Vápenná valleys.
