One of the best preserved buildings of the old Pressburg, whose beauty and pompousness can be still admired by the visitors of Bratislava today, is the Mirbach Palace. This Rococo jewel stands on the site of an old wooden development. Today, it is the seat of the Bratislava City Gallery.
The size and importance of the gallery is the second largest gallery in Slovakia. Its activities are mainly associated with exhibiting a large collection of fine art in the form of permanent exhibitions as well as short-term exhibitions of Slovak and world art.
However, the gallery itself has its permanent exhibitions installed in other historical buildings - Pálffy Palace and Primate's Palace. The Mirbach Palace houses an exhibition called Central European Baroque Painting and Sculpture. The exhibition presents almost one hundred works of art.
