If you want to see the most beautiful views of the Žiar Valley, head out to Rock of Dolná Ždaňa. It is located above the village of Dolná Ždaňa near the town of Žiar nad Hronom. The rock is one of the popular tourist destinations of Vtáčnik mountain range.
Climbing its top is not difficult and the hike is rather a pleasant and quite short walk. You should do it back and forth in 2-3 hours, with a vertical elevation of 400 meters. The hike is also suitable for children, but at the top, it is necessary to be careful as the rocks are in danger of falling.
The top part of the Rock has a simple cross with spot lights. From this part you will get an impressive view of the whole Žiar Basin, the town of Žiar nad Hronom with adjacent villages, the town of Kremnica and Štiavnica Hills, but also the silhouette of the Revište Castle.
Halfway to the Rock, there is also a modest wooden shelter where you can relax or hide from bad weather. There is a marked path leading there from the village of Dolná Ždaňa or from the village of Hliník nad Hronom.
