The monumental rock, which rises above the village of Sučany near Martin, is popular especially among climbers, but it also has something to offer to travellers or tourists.
Thanks to its excellent strategic location since ancient times, a fortified hillfort was built here, representing a trading centre, transit and market station. The hillfort is often associated with the extinct Sučiansky Castle.
Today, this place is full of climbers and tourists who want to know the corners of this place. On its top, there is a small wooden seating area. The rock includes also a small inaccessible cave, or other interesting holes and crevices.
From the top parts, you can enjoy nice outlooks not only on the immediate surroundings of the formation, but also on the Greater and Little Fatra mountains.
There is no official tourist trail leading to Sučianska Rock, but you can approach it simply nad you won't get lost for sure. The ideal starting point for the hikes is the southern part of the village of Sučany.
