The Town Hall Square of Bardejov forms the central historical town zone and is one of the most beautiful in Slovakia. Its indescribable atmosphere is enhanced by the representative building of the Town Hall from the 16th century, built in the Gothic - Renaissance style.
Today, the town hall is a national cultural monument and also a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since 1903, the historical department of the Šariš Museum has been located in its premises. Visitors can see the permanent exhibition called “Bardejov - Free Royal Town”.
The exhibits document the rich and developed history of the town, its craft production, guild life, trade, textile production, education and fine arts, as well as medieval book culture and many others.
The most valuable exhibits that visitors can admire include the statue of Little Calvary by Master Paul, the altar of St. Nicholas, a ring with diamonds of Queen Elizabeth and last but not least, a set of Renaissance burgher epitaphs from the 17th century.
