In Rajecká dolina, on the slope of Žibrid Hill, there is a bizarre natural phenomenon - Rocky Mace. There is a legend that explains its origins - in the past, there was a Thunder Oak on this slope. One day a giant went around it and decided to make a mace out of this big tree.

As he carved his instrument, he did not notice that the lymph had escaped from the tree and so he adhered to the ground. When he found out, he was so angry that he slammed the oak with all his strength into the ground, cursed it, so the mace turned to rock that still stands there today.

The formation is surrounded by dense forest and an undemanding hiking trails from Rajecké Teplice (6.5km - 2h) as well as from Zbyňov (about 4.5km) lead to it. The route also includes an educational trail with 6 stops.
