The Historical Forest Caputium Railway is part of the Museum of Kysuce Village in Nova Bystrica - Výchylovka. It is a well-preserved and functionally restored part of the former Kysuce-Orava Forest Railway. It was founded in 1926 by joining forest railways built in 1915 - 1918, Kysuce railway and Orava railway.
The original operation at the Kysuce-Orava Forest Railway was completed at the end of 1971. After the overhaul of the track in the section Kubátkovia - Beskyd, a preserved and functionally restored railway was in operation, which since 1991 bears the name of the Historical Forest Caputium Railway.
In 1995, passenger transport was officially authorized, whereby the historic forest headland began to function as a museum railway. The railway runs during the seasonal operation in May - October.
The caputium system is one of two of such type that have been preserved in Europe. Therefore, in 1991, the Historical Forest Caputium Railway was declared a national cultural monument of the Slovak Republic.
