Description
The tiny mountain settlement of Pohorelská Maša, situated in the Hron Valley, is bordered by the Gindura Hill from the south. The hill was once known as a ski resort, but it is no longer used for skiing, so it is full of beautiful hiking opportunities.
Gindura Hill is a steep and rocky peak, and is therefore especially popular due to the impressive views of the Nízke Tatry Mountains with its dominating Orlová and Kráľova hoľa (grassy uplands), which can be found on the edge of the peak rocks.
At the eastern foot of Gindura Hill, there is also the Mašianske Rocks Nature Reserve with a natural forest community with abundant pine of relict origin. The protected area is marked with an information board and there is also a shelter for tourists.
Gindura Hill is accessible along yellow marked hiking trail from the settlement of Pohorelská Maša (a village part of Pohorelá). The hike is short (approx. 3k m away), unpretentious and therefore ideal for tourists of all ages.
