The Klauzy Water Reservoir near Smižany has its extraordinary charm. It is located in the beautiful surroundings of the Slovak Paradise National Park, surrounded by local hills and dense forests. Its charming, even romantic atmosphere enchants you in every season.
The water reservoir has a relatively long and varied history. It was built on the site of the Belá stream in 1781 for the purpose of wood rafting. It was renewed twice and the most famous owners were the Csáky county family. In 1980, it was adapted to fish farming and in 1985, it was declared a cultural monument.
A trip to the water reservoir is a beautiful and unpretentious tour that both large and small tourists will enjoy. On the banks of the water reservoir, it is possible to sit and watch the surrounding beauty - coniferous forests, hills, but also rich flora.
There is a marked hiking trail passing the Slovak Paradise around the water reservoir of Klauzy. You can continue further to the mouth of Sokolia Valley, Kyseľ Gorge to the legendary Tomašovský View. The starting point for tours to the reservoir can be, for example, Kláštorisko or Čingov.
