Liptov Gallery of P. M. Bohúň

In 1955, the third oldest gallery in Slovakia - the Liptov Gallery of P. M. Bohúň - was founded. The gallery is located in the historical and cultural center of Liptovský Mikuláš, surrounded by a beautiful park environment.

The collection of the gallery presents 5200 works of art - paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, sculptures, part of which is presented in five permanent exhibitions:

• Old Art - the exhibition contains exhibits of Slovak art from the 14th century. until the beginning of the 19th century. These include valuable Gothic altars, panel paintings and solitary sculptures, as well as four sculptures.
• Hall of Bohúň - dedicated to Petr Michal Bohun after whom the gallery is also named.
• 19th century visual art - the exhibition shows the development of Slovak art in the 19th century.
• Visual art of the first half of the 20th century - the founding generation of modern Slovak art is represented in the exhibition.
• Personalities of Fine Arts in Liptov - exposition dedicated to Šimerová, Martinček, Kern and Ksandra.

The gallery regularly organizes short-term exhibitions in the exhibition hall, which also present the most important contemporary artists from Slovakia and abroad. In addition, Liptov Gallery focuses on the restoration of works.
