Anyone who would like to travel a little in time and experience a return to the oldest periods of human history should visit the Live Archeopark in Hanušovce nad Topľou. It is a unique archaeological museum of experience and also the only live archaeological museum in nature in Slovakia.
The archaeological park surrounded by a palisade with an entrance tower offers 5 dwellings from five periods of prehistory and early Middle Ages. The dwellings are fully equipped with simple furniture and everyday items. The interiors are complemented by sculptures of men, women and children, clad in hand-sewn garments with typical accessories.
There are also replicas of archaeological objects from the Stone, Bronze, Iron and Slavic periods. The oldest object of the archaeological park is a leather tent - a replica of a dwelling from about 30,000 years ago. The youngest is a log cabin of Slavs from the 9th-10th century.
An important part of the complex is a pottery workshop with a two-chamber furnace - a replica of a finding from Prešov, a complex with animals or a unique replica of a jewelery glass furnace.
Archeopark is an excellent place for families with children. It offers a lot of relaxation but fun learning and learning. The best time to visit is during regular festivals, when the tour is enriched with an interesting accompanying program.
