The village of Rimavská Baňa was an important village of the Rimavský Estate during the Middle Ages. Thanks to this, historically extremely valuable landmarks have been preserved here. One of the most important monuments is the medieval Evangelical church, which dates back to the 14th century.
The church is declared a national cultural monument for two reasons. The interior is decorated with medieval wall paintings with the legend of Ladislaus from 1360 to 1380. The second reason is precious furniture - baroque altar, baroque pulpit and Gothic baptismal font.
Originally, there was a historical organ in the church, but it was lost in mysterious circumstances. Now visitors can see only its imitation. The medieval church was first Catholic, but during the Revolution it passed into the hands of the Protestants and they hold it until today.
The church serves the local church choir of the Evangelical Church of Augsburg Confession and worship is held every second Sunday. It is necessary to arrange a sightseeing of the church at least a week in advance.
