Description
Near the village of Krasny Brod, there is one of the oldest and most important monasteries of the Greek Catholic Church in Slovakia - Monastery of the Descent of the Holy Spirit. This beautiful historical building was built in the 14th century. During its existence, the monastery went through not only famous but also difficult times during which it was burned and destroyed several times.
The Monastery of the Descent of the Holy Spirit is one of those monasteries that directly follow the Cyrillic-Method tradition. To date, only the ruins have been preserved from the former majestic monastery. However, they are set in a beautiful natural environment and together create a unique atmosphere
Only a few tens of meters from the ruins of the ancient monastery is a new monastery, which the Basilians built and consecrated in 2002.
