Description
The East Slovak Gallery in Košice is the first regional gallery in the whole of Slovakia. Its main collecting program is documenting the visual life in the Eastern Slovakia region. The gallery is located in the beautiful premises of the County House, built in 1779 in the Baroque-Classicist style.
The collection of the gallery consists of more than 6,400 works, which provide an overview of the 19th and 20th century art. from the East Slovak region, as well as an overview of art in Slovakia, especially in the 20th century. Visitors can see the permanent exhibition of "19th century painting in eastern Slovakia", as well as temporary exposures.
On the ground floor, you will find a section of the gallery that works as a lab for the latest projects and young art. Long-term and large-scale exhibition projects are held in the halls on the first floor. Today's seat of the East Slovak Gallery, in addition to space for exhibitions, also hides a beautiful meeting room and the smallest public cinema in Košice.
