Lovers of various rock formations, caves, beautiful nature and extraordinary views should direct their hiking boots to Šípská Fatra, which offers several attractive tourist destinations.
In addition to the massive and extensive Šíp hill, this locality is also made up of another very interesting hill called Hrdoš and breathtaking Hrdoš Rock. The legend says that in the past, there was a massive castle in the summit parts of Hrádok massif. There was a certain magnificent man, who was of so proud nature that no one called him otherwise than Hrdoš (The Proud Man).
Interestingly, it is possible to admire the massive rock blocks with windows, gates and several caves at Hrdoš Rock. The largest of these is the officially inaccessible Žaškovská Cave, which is 120 meters long.
From the Hrdoš Hill, you will have a nice view of the valley, the village of Komjatné, as well as the surrounding hills such as Little Fatra, Choč Hills or Western Tatras.
Hrdoš Hill with Hrdoš Rock is accessible by marked hiking trails. The starting point of the tour can be villages of Komjatná (about 2 km), Švošov (about 3 km), Stankovany, Žaškov or Ľubochňa. The Hrdoš ridge can be crossed to the Crossed Rock and further to the forested Ostré Hill.
