Description
The picturesque mountain village of Ľubietová was an important center of mining and processing of copper and iron ores. The most famous deposit in this area is Podlipa lying on the southern slope of Vysoká spot height.
This place is the site of the unique Libethenite mineral and up to 23 galleries and mining fields were located here at the peak times of mining in the past. Many of them have been preserved until today.
Some of these old mining tunnels can be entered at your own risk. There are also deep vertical chimneys in the surrounding forests, which are often several meters deep.
The golden age of the Ľubietová mining is also reminiscent of the surrounding pile fields, where samples of rare Libethenite, but also of Malachite, can still be found. However, the collection of minerals is prohibited.
