In the city district of Old Town in Bratislava, there is a beautiful rococo building, the Apponyi Palace, which was built between 1761 and 1762 by Count Juraj Apponyi of Oponice. The palace was later purchased by the city for the needs of the municipality. At present, its premises on the ground floor and in the basement are used by the Museum of Viticulture. The first and second floors serve the Museum of Historical Interiors.
The museum presents the history of viticulture, vine growing, harvesting and grape processing on the territory of the city from antiquity to the 20th century. It also presents the two most important wine companies in Bratislava, Hubert J. E. and Palugyay, which have won many international awards for their production, especially sparkling wine.
The building has barrier-free access to individual rooms of the exposition. In the offer for visitors is also prepared system called. audio guide. The Museum also houses the National Wine Salon, which presents and offers the opportunity to taste the 100 best Slovak wines.
