In the very historical center of Lučenec, there is a monumental building of the former county court. Today, this beautiful historical building is the seat of the Museum and Gallery of Novohrad. The museum manages more than 25,000 archaeological, ethnological, historical and gallery collection items.

The Novohrad Museum offers an eye-catching permanent exhibition called "Treasures of the Past". The exhibition offers a unique view of ancient history through the most valuable exhibits, including the treasures from the Bronze Age, the silver treasure of coins from Šúrice or finds from the archaeological sites of Radzovce and Fiľakovo.

The Novohrad Museum and Gallery also specializes in the history of enamelling and glassmaking. Most of the exhibits come from the now extinct enamels in Lučenec and Fiľakov. The rich pottery tradition in Novohrad is presented by the folk pot from Galicia. The museum also has its own rich collection of contemporary ceramics, which is also presented in the permanent exhibition.

The gallery section, which closes the entire exhibition, offers a rich collection mapping the work of artists working in and around Lučenec. In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum also organizes various short-term exhibitions, symposia and other cultural events.
