Pavol Országh Hviezdoslav was one of the leading figures of Slovak literature and Slovak culture at the turn of the 19th century and the 20th century. His extensive and immensely important literary work can be found together in one place at the P.O.Hviezdoslav Literary Museum.
The P.O. Hviezdoslav Literary Museum was made available on the 33rd anniversary of Hviezdoslav's funeral, 13 November 1954. The museum is the oldest literary museum in Slovakia. They are located in the historical building of the Čaplovič Library at Hviezdoslavovo Square in Dolný Kubín.
The exhibition in three rooms brings closer not only the work but also the life of one of the most important authors of Slovak literature. In addition to text and picture material, every visitor will also be interested in original personal monuments from the estate of poet Pavel Országh Hviezdoslav.
The entrance to the building of the Čaplovič Library is lined with a bronze statue of P.O. Hviezdoslav in life-size and four horizontal blocks with relief decoration and texts from four areas of Hviezdoslav's work.
