Slovak nature is incredible beautiful and powerful. And as if it had some kind of magic wand, the nature created a beautiful natural phenomenon - rock boletus - just under the slope of the village of Ľupča.
Nowadays, the Rock Boletus is a well-known stop for all tourism enthusiasts as well as a protected natural monument. Its unique appearance is a result of weathering sedimentary rocks in which harder layers of carbonate adhesives alternate with softer sandstone inserts..
Rock Boletus, once also called Chestnut Boletus, can be found very easily. It proudly rises above the left bank of the Ľupčica stream, behind the houses on the Stráne slope - about 2 km from the railway station. The location is easily accessible, but do not look for the marked hiking trail here.
However, not only the Rock Boletus itself, but also its surroundings deserve your attention. Sandy sediments contain fossilized shells of nummulite (sea shellfish).
