The highest peak in the north-western part of the Low Tatras - Salatín - is a distinctive limestone hill, which is characterized by a homogeneous shape. Salatine is very specific both in appearance and tourism it offers.
It is situated between Bobrovecká and Roháčska valleys. Its slopes are richly overgrown with mountain grass, and in the past served mainly for grazing cattle. Today, its slopes and peaks are mainly occupied by tourists hungry for incredibly beautiful alpine hiking.
Being attractive is definitely its peak, which is a nearly 100 m long narrow platform with a prominent furrow. In the north-east, there is a long sidewind of Malý Salatín with tiny walls and smaller caves - Zbojnícka Cave. From the top you will get a beautiful circular view of the Liptov basin, the main ridge of the Low Tatras and the Great and Little Fatra.
The starting point for tours to Salatín can be Zverkovka (about 5 km), Jalovec (about 11 km) or Huty (about 11 km). All the ascents are very steep at the end.
