If your heart yearns for the fascinating history of the Habsburgs, the town of Holíč has a lot to offer. When you come here, the Baroque-Classicist monumental Holíč Castle will strike your eyes.
Its late Baroque appearance is the result of the reconstruction of the Renaissance anti-Turkish fortress into a representative summer residence of the Habsburg family.
The three-storey residential building is surrounded by a massive double castle wall system and a moat. In the past, a large fenced park continued behind the moat, however, it was liquidated in 1919.
History lovers will surely be delighted by the premises of the Municipal Museum and Gallery. Visitors can thanks to the dummies admire the historical buildings of the town, the original condition of the castle and its premises, the movable model of the wooden windmill, churches or chapels.
The museum also includes a permanent exhibition of crafts and guilds, local folk costume, demonstrations of Holíč and Hutterite ceramics, and a gallery of paintings by the non-professional painter Ota Kroupa. The tour continues on the 1st floor to the Chinese Hall and Chapel. The tour of the chateau ends in the underground tunnels.
The area also includes castle garden with Herb Garden, which you can visit also separately. It is an ideal place for relaxation, picnics and rest near the water. Your children will get enough of the fun on the playground, which is also located here.
