The Andrej Sládkovič Municipal Museum opened its doors to the general public in November 1968. Since then, its premises have gradually expanded and the memorial room of Andrej Sládkovič has been added to the museum. At present, the museum belongs to the city administration.
It has one permanent exhibition called “From the History of Krupina”. It is located on the floor of the museum. The exhibition is thematically divided into two basic parts - the history of the town and the literary part, which is devoted to literary personalities and natives of Krupina with an emphasis on the life and work of Andrej Sládkovič and Elena Maróthy-Šoltés.
A relatively large part of the permanent exhibition is the history of Krupina, from the oldest settlement of the territory through the formation, development of the town and its population. The aim of the exhibition is to introduce visitors to the most important events from the rich history of the city in the time span from the 13th to the 20th century.
The ground floor of the museum is reserved for the presentation of short-term exhibitions with various topics. In a way, the exhibitions expand and update the permanent exhibition and offer of the museum. Last but not least, these temporary exhibitions are a good complement to the school curriculum.
