The village of Terchová is an important Slovak pilgrimage site where Saint Cyril and Method days are held annually. That is why a calvary was built on the hill. The one in Terchová, however, is a bit different from the traditional ones.
Its uniqueness lies in the fact that, that you will not find any chapels here. Instead, there are crosses on the ground and statues. They are made of stone and completed with glass details - red spots symbolizing injuries in the fall of Jesus, as well as the heart, nail or crown. The author of the whole area of Calvary is an academic sculptor and native of Terchová, Milan Opalka.
The Stations of the Cross can be reached from Terchová by a yellow sign. The Stations of the Cross begins over Ďurkov laz, which is located at the Terchová Coal Farm and continues up to Oravcové Hill.
