Balážka lookout tower is named after the mountain massif on which it stands. It is 14 meters high and has three floors. It is anchored in concrete feet and looks very massive.
From the Balážka observation tower you will have charming views of the surrounding Čergov and Levočské vrchy mountains, Kamenický Castle and the entire town of Lipany.
The hill is interesting not only for the lookout, but also for the old Jewish cemetery, which is located under the railway embankment. It is believed that the cemetery was created by the arrival of the first Jews from Polish Galicia at the beginning of the 19th century. Currently, however, no form of the cemetery has been preserved and only an information board in its place reminds of it.
The Balážka massis passes two tourist circuits under the name "Malá skala and Veľká skala". The "Malá Skala" (Little rock) circuit provides a view from the cross, where there are trenches, a well, a sitting area and information boards. The Veľká skala (Big rock) circuit goes along the ridge of Balážka, while both circuits are connected to each other.
Access to the observation tower is via the green tourist signfrom the railway station in Lipany. Later, after the railway crossing, follow the local tourist sign (red-white square). It is an easy, approximately 1-hour walk that can be easily handled by families with children and beginner hikers.
