The picturesque birthplace of Juraj Jánošík, the village of Terchová, is gripped in the arms of beautiful and hefty hills that offer excellent opportunities for hiking, relaxing and learning about natural beauties. One of them is the vastly towering forested hill of Pupov.
Pupov Hill is the highest peak of Kysuce Highlands, while the entire massif lies in the protective zone of the Little Fatra National Park. The mountain, as only few others, can boast of three peaks - the lowest western (1045 m asl), the middle high central (1059 m asl) and the highest eastern (1096 m asl).
Peaks are meadowy. There are only limited views through the trees. You can see the silhouettes of both Rozsutec and Stoh hills. The marked hiking trail leads only to the lowest western peak, while the others can be reached by the unmarked forest path along the ridge.
Pupov Hill is relatively little visited by tourists, which is also a harbinger of the fact that you will hardly meet anyone at the exit. All the more you will be able to savour the beautiful nature around you in full sip.
The starting points of the tours to Pupov are the Terchová settlements Biely Potok (approx. 5km) and Šípková (approx. 4km). The lightest exit route leads from the Rovná hora saddle (751 meters above sea level), or along the ridge from the western peak.
