Description
On the main ridge of the Lúčanská part of the Little Fatra rises the mountain peak of Veterná. It is the 3rd highest peak of this part of Little Fatra. It offers pleasant hiking, at the end of which you will enjoy beautiful and extensive views.
The Veterné Hill (ie Windy or Breezy Hill) is situated between Vidlice and Horná Lúka, which are part of the ridge of this part of Little Fatra. It was accurately named after the strong wind blowing on its open top.
The extensive mountainous plateau provides beautiful circular views. From there, you can admire the whole Little Fatra, as well as the mountains of the Greater Fatra, Súľovské Mountains or Javorníky. Ascent to Veterná Hill is not demanding and therefore many tourists continue to ridge to Vidlice or Veľká Lúka (Large Meadow).
Veterné Hill is accessible on several marked hiking trails. The starting point for tours can be Kunerad - along the green trail from Kunerad Castle (about 8 km) and then along the yellow through Svitačova Valley. You can also get here from Bystrička or Martin.
