At the foot of the hill of Šturc, which rises near the mining town of Kremnica, there is a beautiful Calvary. The location where Calvary is built is also rare from a natural point of view. There are many dendrological specimens of rare old trees, which give the place a unique atmosphere.
Ascent to Calvary is part of the nature trail, which will make the route interesting for children. A pleasant and unpretentious walk through a tree-lined footpath leads you to the top of the Church of St. Cross and the circular stone view, from which there is a beautiful view of the surrounding hills.
Calvary has all fourteen stops. The complex of the Calvary chapels and the church has a Baroque character and has been rising above the town of Kremnica since the 18th century. The Roman Catholic Church still actively uses Calvary for the cross pilgrimages, which always take place here on Good Friday.
