Probably the most popular winter sport in Slovakia is skiing. Ski enthusiasts include recreational, active as well as professional athletes. That is why skiing in Slovakia has a relatively long and rich history, which is shared with you by the Exposition of Skiing History in Slovakia located in the Information Center of Kremnica.
The permanent exhibition is managed by the Museum of Physical Culture and consists of two parts - the first part is devoted to the history of skiing in Slovakia, focusing on sports skiing and Slovak ski personalities. The second part consists of the exhibition “Kremnica - Slovak Semmering”, which describes the history of skiing in Kremnica.
The entire exhibition is accompanied by demonstrations of ski equipment and ski armature. The most important exhibits that visitors can admire include the items of Olympic athletes, e.g. Daniel Šlachta, Štefan Harvan, Rudolf Čillík, Anna Pasiarová, but also the silver medalist from the Winter Olympics in Torino 2006, Radoslav Židek, and the Slovak cross-country representant Martin Bajčičák.
